Streamers, baetis, october caddis, stones, midges, crayfish.  T-storms = BWO's.  560 CFS (vs 500 avg).

9/13 -- GOOD

Baetis, stones, streamers, "fish in every spot", "should be good all day long".  Recent t-storms.  Morning fog in Hirschdale every day now, good for fishing.  560 CFS > a week (vs 480 avg).

9/9 -- GOOD

Summer hatches receding, but now big golden stones (2 1/2 to 3 inches long).  Also baetis and crayfish.  October caddis should be soon.  Big browns getting active, thus maybe try streamers.  560 CFS > a week (vs 480 avg).  Water cooling.

9/2 -- FAIR

Flows "perfect", water cooling.  Evening caddis.  Yellow sallies, PED's, hoppers, tricos, stones, crayfish.  560 CFS (vs. 470 avg), up from 530 wednesday.

Insect activity generally slowing down, "summer slowdown" (Big Fly).  Baetis, PMD's, stones, caddis, crayfish, streamers, hoppers.  530 CFS (vs 480 avg).

8/25 -- GOOD

Whole river in good shape.  But warm, since bigger share of flow now coming from Tahoe (top release).  Best a.m., p.m. and in oxygen-rich water.  Crayfish, stones, caddis, little yellow stones.  550 CFS for 4 days (vs 480 avg).

8/23 -- GOOD

Hoppers, crayfish, stones, caddis, mayflies. Cool nights (30's and 40's) helping counteract warm surface discharge from Tahoe.  540 CFS (vs. 480 avg). This time of year, the town of Truckee can be the coldest in the lower 48. "Things are shaping up nicely for an epic fall."  Reports of a grand slam on the Nevada side: rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and whitefish (Gilligan).

8/19 -- FAIR

Warmer water (Tahoe top release, no more from colder reservoirs), thus fish a.m. and p.m.  Subsurface: crayfish, golden stones, caddis, yellow stones.  Short caddis hatch at dark.  550 CFS for 3 days (vs. 475 avg).

8/12 -- GOOD

Water still at normal july temps (not august).  Stones, caddis, crayfish, hoppers.  Tahoe releases began 8/9 and warmed temps somewhat (Kiene's).

"It’s prime time on Truckee River right now" (Gilligan's). Fishable entire length. 550 CFS (vs. 500 avg). A little warm, fish soon moving into oxygen-rich water. Best a.m. and p.m. Deep with golden stones, yellow stones, caddis, crayfish. Hoppers.

Caddis. PMD's, golden stoners(typo...), drakes, sj worms, princes. Crayfish, sculpins, streamers. Fish moving out of slower, into faster water as flows drop. 650 CFS (vs. 500 avg). Watch out for tuber hatch.

Down to 800 CFS (from 1100 a week ago, vs. 500 avg). Nymph deep with caddis, stones, PMD's. Dries: caddis and little yellow stones in evening. Streamers, crayfish, sculpins.
