7/8 -- FAIR
Oscillating around 2500 CFS for a week now (ideal is < 650). Caddis pupa.

7/6 -- FAIR
Hovering like a spinner just above 2000 CFS. High, but clear by Truckee standards. Nymphs or streamers. Green drakes, stones, PMD's, caddis. Hoppers. Edges.

7/1 -- POOR
Flows "down" to 2300 after peaking at 2800 wednesday due to rain. Yet Gilligan still hauling 'em in. See his video below. In this water, you need to be a pro (or be with one). Best in a.m. before snowmelt muddies the water. Big streamers, heavy nymphs -- if you must (be careful).

6/28 -- FAIR
Flows were below 2000 CFS, prompting better fishing, but just jumped to 2300. With significant RAIN(!) through wednesday, call head. But the future is bright: "There’s some caddis pop’n, but it will be a week, maybe two, for the big caddis blitzes in the evening. Be ready and get your caddis box full." (Gilligan).

6/24 -- POOR
Flows climbing to 2800 CFS (from 2100 CFS monday), now in the grass. As if to torture would-be anglers, warm weather has brought out the insects: caddis, PMD's, golden stones, midges, terrestrials. If you absolutely must, fish soft water near banks. Be safe.

Latest reports 6/23:

6/21 -- POOR
Flows edged below 2000 (3X-4X typical fishable) but chart shows them moving upward again. Reno fly shop (below) says they may drop later his week. Black streamers along the banks. Flows in upper stretches less dangerous.

Latest report 6/20:

6/17 -- POOR
High, turbid and gyrating between 2200 and 2700 CFS like a radio wave. Lots more snowmelt to come. Wait a while. Try the little truckee (though it's crowded). New fly shop in town: West River Fly Shop (http://westriverflyshop.wordpress.com/) -- story: http://www.tahoebonanza.com/article/20110609/SPORTS/110609938/1061&ParentProfile=1050

6/13 -- FAIR
Flows up to 2200-2500 (depending on time of day). Tough fishing, streamers only, be extra careful. Gilligan's: "It’s not the best conditions to work in, but this is America, I need to work, and people need to fish."

Latest reports 6/12:

6/10 -- POOR
Much warmer. Flows tough at 2300 CFS (vs. 2000 monday). "There is nowhere to cross unless you want to drown" (Gilligan's, below). If you must, use big flies along the banks.

6/7 -- POOR
Flows have doubled from 1000 CFS to 2000 CFS since friday due to rainy/snowy weekend, likely putting the fish down -- and "impending" warm weather may trigger snowmelt. Before that, Gilligan landed a 29-inch brown (see link below).

6/3 -- FAIR
More snow(!), still high (1600 CFS), but fishable, especially higher up. Streamers with sink tip, switch rod recommended.

Latest report 6/2:

6/1 -- FAIR
Water high but clear. Snow(!) again over weekend; more possible this week. Fishable (and semi-wadeable) above Boca -- best in upper stretches.

Latest report 5/31:
http://www.renoflyshop.com/fishingreport.html
5/27 -- FAIR
Light snow = cold water = slow fishing. Nymph the slow water with stones. Careful with the flows.

5/20 -- FAIR
Too damned high unless you're with Matt "Gilligan" Koles, apparently (see link to his report below). He's having some luck above Boca where the water is fishable.

Latest report 5/19:
http://www.gilligansguideservice.blogspot.com/
5/18 -- POOR
River is high, don't bother unless you're a pro or are with one (as of 5/13). Huge snowpack and the advent of warm weather (plus some rain and snow! in recent days) mean high flows for a few weeks.
