"Small streamers fished slowly or swung and vary your nymph sizes...we would recommend fishing it at 600 or less cfs."  West branch at 1300 CFS (vs 400 avg).

12/9 -- FAIR

"Winter is here and cold temps are forecast for the next week."  A few inches of new snow on the ground.  West branch murky but floatable at 2200 CFS (vs 300 avg).   Try streamers and midges.  East branch closed until spring.

12/2 -- FAIR

East branch now closed; only the no-kill section of the West Branch is open.  "Streamers have proven to be effective and there are some small Olives about."  "Midges are common all winter as long as rivers remain ice free."  1500 CFS (vs 275 avg).

"This has been a good fall for dry fly fishing. We should continue to have small Olives and midges into December, depending on the weather."  Nymphs, streamers, olives, midges.  West wadeable at 540 CFS (vs 380 avg), closed above Gamelands; east semi-wadeable at 810 CFS (vs 250 avg).

"Streamers and nymphs are most effective".  "Rising fish when insects are present."  Dries: occasional midges, olives, caddis.West good wading at 480 CFS and rising (vs 350 avg); east limited wading at 800 (vs 250 avg).

West: isonychia, olives, caddis.   Both branches: streamers and nymphs for big boys (streamers from high nutrient levels in water, plus alewives that spilled over from lake).  Conflicting reports on volume of insect activity.  West wadeable, down to 480 CFS (which is normal); east still high but flaotable at 850 (vs 230 avg).

High, unwadeable, but floatable.  Browns on streamers.  Rainbows on cahills.  BWO's, isonychia, sulfurs.  West 1750 CFS (vs 400 avg), closed for season above "gamelands"; east 900 (vs 200 avg), closed for season above shinhopple (below shinhopple open until 11/30).  See regulations here.
