"Fishing is slow for now. Typical for early may. Water conditions are good, but flows are a bit high at 3,200 CFS. When will the fishing pick up? We are thinking later this month."

4/27 -- POOR

"The fishing is slow. We are going to back-off on the fabulous reports the Klamath produces because there are no good fishing reports. Wait until mid May. At that point, we will be closing in on the Salmon Fly hatches that produce good fishing through June."

"The river continued to be in clear, fishable condition for the first several miles below Iron Gate dam, and a small number of fresh steelhead continued to enter the upper reaches to join the native rainbows."

"mix of adult steelhead to 6 pounds and native rainbows with virtually no fishing competition. Fly fishing has been slow in the cold water." Flows jumped to 1350 CFS Thursday, after prolonged 1000 (vs 2600 avg).

Good rain at last! "The fishing has been good! The rainy, snowy conditions this week will warm the water a little and force more steelhead to move up into the Irongate section of the Klamath." Flows jumped from 1000 CFS Wednesday to a peak of 1750 Thursday and were receding as of 10:00 p.m. Thursday.

"Anglers have been catching up to half a dozen adults to about 5 pounds and as many more half-pounders and native trout." Sand bar constraining flows at the mouth has been breached. Flows have been declining -- down to 1300 CFS from 1800 a week ago (vs 1900 avg).

12/23 -- GOOD

"We are starting to see more and more adult fish in the net and fewer smaller steelhead." Cold mornings mean frozen rod guides until around 10:30. "Flows below Irongate Dam dropped...and further concentrated the steelies making them easier to target." Lack of rain = clear and low flows of 1020 (vs 1900 avg).
