"Its been a mild winter in the Roaring Fork Valley, and the Frying Pan River has been fishing well."   "Adios skis, hello fly rod!  Not much snow on the hills but killer fishing on the rivers."  Some crowds -- "rivalling summertime".  90 CFS (vs 110 avg).

12/23 -- GOOD

"There is good fishing now on midges and BWO's."  Best while the sun is on the water.  90 CFS (vs 110 avg).

12/16 -- GOOD

"The midge hatches are coming off nicely. [They] will come off during the day, particularly if it is sunny."  Also try baetis.  88 CFS (vs 112 avg).

12/9 -- VERY GOOD

Best fishing is higher up section, about which the following was written: "The Pan has been HOT as of late.  As we head into winter bug activitie will start to slow down, key bug hatches will mostly consist of midges...DY - NO- MITE!!".  With winter, fishing is transitioning from BWO's to nymphing.  Snow on the ground.  88 CFS (vs 115 avg).

12/2 -- GOOD

"The Frying Pan River is moving into winter mode, but some dry fly fishing is still around."  Nymphs are becoming more critical, though there are still some BWO's.  90 CFS -- winter flows -- (vs 115 avg).

11/18 -- FAIR

"With the onset of the colder weather the bug hatches are slowing with a few BWO's and midges but nothing prolific."92 CFS (vs 110 avg).  Highs in the 30's and 40's, lows in the teens and 20's.

11/11 -- VERY GOOD

"...some great dry fly action and good nymphing between the baetis and midge hatches."  Also streamers for "aggrerssive attacks".  90 CFS (vs 100 avg).

11/4 -- VERY GOOD

First snow (13") "has really kicked the river into high gear"BWO's, midges, mysis shrimp, eggs, streamers.  Some snow expected saturday.  86 CFS (vs 110 avg).

10/28 -- GOOD

Baetis, midges.  Dries and nymphs.  Mysis shrimp, eggs.  88 CFS (vs 115 avg).

10/25 -- VERY GOOD

Easy wading entire river, no crowds, nice foliage remaining.  Big browns digging redds, preparing to spawn.  Midges, BWO's, some PMD's, lingering october caddis.  90 CFS > a week (vs 110 avg), expected to remain here "well into winter".

10/21 -- VERY GOOD

Dries and nymphs.  BWO's, midges, mysis shrimp, eggs.  90 CFS for 4 days (vs 130 avg).

PMD's, midges, baetis, mysis shrimp, eggs.  Lowered to winter levels: 90 CFS (vs 135 avg), down from 300 last wednesday.

BWO's, midges, eggs.  Dries, nymphs/larvae.  Down to 200 CFS, from 300 tuesday (vs 140 avg).
