10/26 -- VERY GOOD

10/21: "With low but consistent water all week, the dry fly fishing in the pockets of deeper water was excellent. It is a matter of finding where the fish have the benefit of deeper water in the bright light but can still access feeding lanes. The dry fly fishing will be excellent with PMD's and BWO's still coming off. The next few days will be excellent but then there is a possibility of cold for a day or so which will slow things down a little. But as soon as the weather warms again the bugs will keep coming off the the fish will keep feeding."

10/19 -- VERY GOOD

"We are now seeing our fall / winter flows, currently the flows have been dropped to 50 cfs. Now that fall is here we are seeing more and more baetis show up and mixed with midges. Dry fly activity has been best between the hours of 11am thru 3pm, outside of those hours nymphing will be the best method for getting into fish. Think small and dark baetis and midge patterns when nymph fishing."  "As autumn progresses, the Bureau dropped the Pan again down to 50cfs. This is as low as the Pan has been at this time of year since 1978. The releases equate to the inflows so currently Ruedi is holding at around 64% full. So now it is a matter of looking for the fish concentrated in the deeper pools. But the dry fly fishing has been spectacular with the colder wet weather over the weekend bringing on some excellent hatches."

10/12 -- VERY GOOD

"We are now seeing our fall / winter flows, currently the flows have been dropped to 80 cfs. Now that fall is here we are seeing more and more baetis show up and mixed with midges. Dry fly activity has been best between the hours of 11am thru 3pm, outside of those hours nymphing will be the best method for getting into fish. Think small and dark baetis and midge patterns when nymph fishing."

9/28 -- EXCELLENT

"With the releases having dropped a little to 245cfs the Pan remains in excellent condition for this time of year. As it cools the hatches are not starting till later in the morning, so there is no point racing out before mid morning. Take your time, and dress for possible rain and be prepared to enjoy great hatches into the later afternoon. The fishing is excellent with drakes, PMD's and BWO's in abundance."

9/21 -- EXCELLENT

"The best Drake hatches we've seen this year are happening right now. 1pm seems to be the startup time and they'll keep hatching for a few hours, even longer on cloudy days. Look for the best hatches from mile 10 and up to the dam. BWOs are the ticket before and after this hatch, with light PMD and Caddis hatches thrown in also."

9/14 -- VERY GOOD

"Summer time hatches are hanging on below the dam on the Frying Pan River. Excellent flows at around 210 cfs. Green Drakes and PMDs and now midges are hatching on the upper stretches blow the dam. Hatches have been taking place early to mid afternoon with midges early in the morning. Some of the best dry fly fishing of the summer has been taking place here in September."

9/7 -- VERY GOOD

"Overall fishing on the Pan is very good right now with an abudance of hatching PMDs, Green Drakes, Baetis, and caddis, with some of the best dry fly fishing anywhere---and it's been very uncrowded up here the past couple of weeks! They dropped the level slightly today and the BWO hatch was really good as a result. The Pan has the longest Green Drake hatch in the country and you will see Drakes hatching in the upper River until the end of September."

8/31 -- GOOD

8/26: "With the releases having increased to 246cfs the Pan is enjoying a great flow but it is a litte harder to wade in the narrower sections. But the hatches are excellent and Cameron and Ed are both reporting good hatches of drakes starting to come off now. It is late but usually we have a good drake hatch near the Dam into September."

8/24 -- GOOD

"Excellent flows at around 245 cfs. Green Drakes and PMDs are still hatching on the upper stretches blow the dam. Hatches have been taking place early to mid afternoon. Spend time looking for hatching bugs and rising fish, don't wait for them to start rising, go and fine them. Nymphing in the morning can produce some excellent fishing while you are out scouting for bugs."

8/16 -- VERY GOOD

8/11: "Overall fishing on the Pan is very good right now with an abudance of hatching PMDs, Green Drakes, Baetis, and caddis, with some of the best dry fly fishing in the area."

8/3 -- GOOD

"The nymph fishing has been solid and consistent all day long, while the best dry fly fishing has been from 11am to 3pm."

7/26 -- VERY GOOD

"Overall fishing on the Pan is very good right now with an abudance of hatching PMDs, Green Drakes, and caddis. This is an ideal level for the Frying Pan--high enough to give fish refuge and low enough for great dry fly fishing and for fishermen to wade just about anywhere."

7/20 -- VERY GOOD

Lower: "PMD's are showing up now too giving a glimpse into the near future! Do not overlook the lower Pan'. This is the least pressured stretch of the river below the dam despite it's solid fishing."

7/12 -- VERY GOOD

"The lower has been improving on a daily basis and frankly there are more diverse hatches and insect life down lower. The lower Pan is more caddis than baetis right now, and we've been hammering trout on Golden Stone dries and Drake nymphs from 6 til dark."

7/6 -- GOOD

Middle: "All of the same hatches as the upper river with much less of the two legged hatch."

6/29 -- GOOD

Upper: "Water conditions are ideal and clear. Don't be surprised if you spot a 26 plus incher right among some of the smaller fish in the public streches. Lighter numbers of pmd's and caddis are being seen, but BWOs are still the ticket throughout."

6/21 -- VERY GOOD

Upper: "Flows are steady and the water's cold and clear. Our guides have seen the stocking truck up on the Pan here and there, and there are "non resident" fish galore and they're not as finicky as the trout who've been to a few rodeos before. Big ones, too. Don't be surprised if you spot a 26 plus incher right among some of the smaller fish in the public streches. Lighter numbers of midges and caddis are being seen, but BWOs are still the ticket almost throughout. The nymph fishing has been solid and consistent all day long, while the best dry fly fishing has been from 11am to 3pm. Don't overlook the streamer fishing especially during early mornings, late evenings and under overcast weather."

6/9 -- GOOD

"PMD's and caddis have begun to show in the last few days. Look for the PMDs late morning. Flows are at 110 cfs or so, and the fish are happy. Summer hatches are just starting, and dry fly fishing will improve."

6/1 -- FAIR

"A colder change and some windy weather made fishing a little tougher on the Pan this week as fish tended to sit lower for a while and the bug hatches slowed down. However the outlook is good with the prediction of fairly settled weather over the next week."
